Happy Holidays

What a huge year it's been!
I hope you have all enjoyed a wonderful 2012.
Now it's time to sit back, relax, spend time with friends and family and have F-U-N.

The Pohutukawa Tree is known as the New Zealand Christmas Tree; at the moment they are bedecked with red blossoms all across Auckland and it is a glorious sight.

Annie Loveridge Interiors and The Ivy House are closed for the holidays until Monday, 14 January 2013.

Thank you to all my wonderful customers and friends; thank you for all the comments, support and camaraderie - I really appreciate it all.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Annie x

Emma Hayes - MM Collection

It's always lovely finding local artists who produce beautiful work and I think the River and Tidal Wallpapers by NZ graphic designer, Emma Hayes for MM Collection are pieces of art more than mere wallcovering.

Both papers are 138 cm wide and are sold by the metre; $189 per metre, available at the Paper Room in Auckland and online. They would look equally amazing in an entrance way or on a large hanging pendant shade.

Emma has also created cushions and throws within the same collection.

River Silk Pillowcases

Rockpool Linen Cushions

Ink Blanket and Pillowcases

The papers are on display at the Paper Room in Auckland and all Emma's beautiful textiles can be viewed online here.

Quadrille Fabrics' Nomad

Quadrille Fabrics has just updated their website's opening image to this fabulous sitting room designed by Carolyne Roehm, using Quadrille's Nomad in New Navy...

It helps that this is a beautiful room...the scale, the panelling, the joinery, those windows...but I am particularly drawn to the pop of green in the alcoves. Take that away and the feel of the room is quite different.

I have approximately 8m of this same fabric in stock for NZ and Australian is a beautiful linen cotton base and the design is amazing! We have used it on a master bed - a bolster and quilt with a feature cushion in a velvet in the same colour for some very happy clients.

For all enquiries for Quadrille Fabric in NZ and Australia, please contact me at annie@annieloveridge

Limited Edition Quartz Weave Rug

Happy Days - second (read "last") Friday of the school holidays, the sun is shining and I have every door of the house open.
Lonny Magazine is here and the front cover features the beautiful West Village apartment of Mary Nelson Sinclair. My eye is immediately drawn - as it often is nowadays - to the fabulous rug pulling the living room together.

Armadillo&Co's Limited Edition Quartz Weave in Limestone & White similarly provides a neutral rug with enough interest to make it work in children's rooms through to formal sitting rooms.

Reminiscent of the Aran sweaters my mother used to knit us for the annual trip into the snow, there are 4 colourways in this Limited Edition range...

Quartz Weave in Crimson & Limestone

Quartz Weave in Charcoal & Limestone

Quartz Weave in Crimson & Shale

I have a few of these beautiful rugs on display at the Paper Room in Auckland, and available online at The Ivy House in NZ.
I hope you all have a very happy weekend. Annie x.

The Ivy House

There was a time when I posted a blog daily.
Inspiration flowed and I would sometimes spend hours getting the pictures just right.
And now, I see that today, October 2nd, my last posting was on August 24th. Yikes.
The excuse that everyone has heard, and heard, is that I have been "working on my website".
I stupidly thought that offloading the production of a website to someone meant it would be delivered, fully completed, tied with a bow to me. My mistake, not theirs.
I received a shell, a list of technical instructions challenging the Rosetta Stone for comprehension - again, my issue, not theirs - and then I set about loading the items onto it....late at night, early in the morning...whenever I could really.
I'm taking a little breather before uploading my lovely cushions and furniture, but here it is, The Ivy House website...

The Ivy House is the New Zealand stockist of Armadillo&Co Rugs and how proud I am of that.
If they don't keep making it into our home...

...the rugs are available on the website, with free delivery across New Zealand.
The other exciting news is that The Ivy House is now available at the Paper Room in Auckland. This is a fabulous showroom, recently opened on Barry's Point Road, just over the harbour bridge in Takapuna.

The Paper Room specialises in gorgeous wallpapers and accessories, but what makes this place special is Annabel and Sarah who deal directly with many of their amazing suppliers. We all feel that having The Ivy House at the Paper Room is great both for us and for our clients. The Paper Room is open weekdays 9.30am - 2.30pm.
From October 15 I shall be at the Paper Room Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you live in Auckland, please pop in and say hello to myself, or the gorgeous Paper Room girls, Annabel and Sarah.

So it has been hectic but I've met some lovely people along the way. Thank you to everyone who has put up with "I'm working on my website" and humoured me when it seemed it would never launch! Hopefully I shall be a more permanent fixture back in Blog Land from now on...I've missed it. Annie x.

To all the people who know I can't make all of you who come to my house and say "errr, ummm, no I've just had coffee thank you", may I please present Exhibit 1:

I know, my skills know no bounds!
But seriously, I make notoriously bad coffee. And tea. Ask any builder. After a few days' thinking it's great they're having tea made for them, they start bringing a thermos.

Now, milky coffee many not be your thing, but that first coffee in the morning is a moment of joy to me.
It makes me a better, and certainly nicer, person.
Or so I'm told.

Peter makes the morning coffee and he is the Maestro. So, like the man who has no compelling reason to be good at cleaning, I have never seen the point in usurping his barista skills.
Except I do like a mid morning coffee and for years it has been hit and miss.
Until now.
The coffee Gods have decided it's too painful to watch any more and, suddenly, inexplicably, the coffee is rather good.
Even if I do say so myself.
Because no one else is willing to try.

Anyway, little things and all that, but this achievement has made me very happy.
Enjoy your Friday and have a lovely weekend. Annie x.

Image my own, with pride.

The Block NZ

I have just driven past the 4 houses in the current series of The Block New Zealand and they all have Bayleys (Estate Agents) flags flying.
The auction is on Thursday 6 September and as the blurb says "a home of this quality simply will not last".
I hope that doesn't mean it's going to fall down.

Ben and Libby's house

Richard and Sarah's house

Ginny and Rhys...struggled to find a good photo but the view is good!

Rachel and Tyson's house

All the details are on the Bayleys website here.
Oh, and beware the erratic driving along Anzac Road of those having a stickybeak...not me of course!

Kids' Corner

I picked up the July 2012 issue of Home Beautiful (Australia) in the weekend and was happy to see so many Armadillo&Co rugs in the Kids' Corner feature on page 29.
Apologies to all Australians who have already finished reading the August issue....I swear, Australian magazines arrive in NZ via a cruise liner that takes in a tour of the Antarctic along the way.

Armadillo&Co 'Flower Weave Marigold'

These hemp flower rugs have been so popular. I have the Marigold and Dandelion in 1.55m and 2.15 diameter in stock at The Ivy House (my website is still being attended to by elves so apologies for lack of a link).
You can email me at

Armadillo&Co 'Pebble Weave' in Limestone

Armadillo&Co 'Stratum Band Width Stripe' in Wheat/White

Armadillo&Co 'Stratum Band Width Stripe' in Black/White

The Armadillo&Co range is made under Fair Trade conditions, is crafted from sustainable natural fibres  and all rugs carry the KALEEN label, certifying that no child labour is used in the manufacture of the rugs.
All purchases benefit local schools in the weavers' villages.
And if that doesn't make you feel good enough, they look good too!

Please pop by and have a look - there's some truly beautiful photography.
